| no partners | | Drove in via Walker Road which is a tad longer but incredibly scenic
Started at noon and did the hike clockwise. No nats the entire hike!
This was a very pleasant hike with cool breezes. If it's this cool in June it must be freezing in the winter! It's almost the classic trail-hike, minus a river or waterfall. There's a good ratio of coverage and views to keep it interesting.
Interesting to note, this hike doesn't loop around Groom Creek
Groom Creek is north of the loop. Judging from the signs it may have looped Groom Creek long ago before the resident invasion. It also appears to have looped on the otherside of the Senator Hwy before the resident invasion.
I adjusted the distance. The FS figure is missing a 7. in front of that 9
This is a better hike than Granite Mountain in my opinion. I like Granite Mountain too. But if you're visiting Arizona and looking for a hike in the Prescott area I'd recommend this loop if you're limited to just one hike.
Abe's description is top notch |
