| no partners | | Was up 32 straight hours helping crew a 24-hour kart race held in the infield between turn 3 and 4 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. I was probably on my feet for 24 of those hours. Most teams had 4-6 drivers, but one guy did the whole race solo! ( Trey Shannon, to raise awareness for Tourettes, http://treyshannon.com/racing-for-tourettes/ .) Anybody who has raced both karts and cars, understands how much more physical karts are, and thus what an achievement that was. It started out rainy, and stayed cold. Sunset on Saturday was spectacular. Mandatory hiking related content: I figure I walked maybe six miles back and forth across the infield during the race. I was so sore, without racing solo, that I could barely get out of my car when my wife and I (finally) returned to our hotel.

p.s. Though I avoided banging my head on anything, I did manage to get my foot run over by a kart in the pits. Thought I broke it, but the pain wore off after an hour ... |
