| no partners | | I came across this trailhead while exploring the area on quads last year. I tried researching the trail online, and found nothing. Well today was the day. I loaded up the pups and went on our little adventure.
The trail was very easy to follow, with Huge Cairn markers. Around the 2.4 mile mark, I realized I was off trail. I had no idea where this trial goes, so I hiked down to the wash and continued in the same direction. After 1/2 mile or so, I decided to turn around. I hiked up the wash and toward the area I lost the trail. I found the trail again. I planned to take the trail for a few minutes then head back. I noticed the trail was curving around and going back toward the road. I then decided not to turn around, and to continue the trail. The trail dumped me out at the Burro Flats loop trailhead. 1 Mile from my truck. I am now wondering if the Burro Flats Loop, ends at the Horse Creek Trailhead?!?!?!?! That wouldn't be a true loop right? I then hiked the road back to my truck. About half way back to my truck I realized I lost my phone. I knew I had it at the Burro Flats trailhead. I dropped my pack and jogged back to my phone, then jogged back to my pack.
The trail does have some very nice views. The scenery seams to always be changing. You do get a couple views of lake pleasant. I did have to remove a lot of thorns from my dogs paws along the way. I don't regret taking the dogs, but next time I wont take them. I did see 2 javelinas and 1 burro/donkey. |
