Simply fabulous! The views keep changing with every turn. This is the ultimate loop for the upper wilderness. I tried this loop counter clockwise around 1999 and failed. Thanks to Preston for suggesting clockwise :wink:

The trail becomes un-maintained on the Alder Trail. We missed a switchback just before Alder Saddle and paid dearly surfing chaparral. It all worked out as the views away from the saddle are among the best for the area with the mass of the four peaks shrining above. Albeit hot, glad I wore pants
