| no partners | | I had a great time on Sunday going skiing here. The trail grooming people had been at work, and instead of breaking trail myself, as I usually do, I skied on the groomed trails. This was fun for a change. The snow was 2 and 3 feet deep. I skied the Lookout Meadow Loop. The groomed trails were slightly icy and very fast, so I didn't attempt the more difficult Isolation Meadow Loop. There were many snow shoe tracks leading here and there, also. Usually snow shoers don't walk in the groomed areas as much. It was a gorgeous day, I took quite a few photos which I'll post.
This area is on Williams Valley road just as you are coming into Alpine, off Hwy 180. You have to drive back on that road about 3 miles or so. At the highway turnoff there is a green sign that says "Big Lake." The road had been plowed but was still covered in snow. |
