| partners | | I've lived in Arizona now for eight plus years and had never been to Williams, Arizona (historic Railroad town and through-way for the Old Route 66). Founded in 1881 at 6700ft elevation, Williams takes claim to being the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon".
Brian invited me to join him in his air conditioned Honda (a luxury for me) for his annual trip to the Williams Amateur Radio Club sponsored "HamFest" (held at the Williams Rodeo Grounds- this weekend a large open/enclosed flee-market for Amateur Radio enthusiasts through-out the west.
Me with a ham radio and a beginner (tech) license since YR2000, but continuing to be a novice to Amateur Radio, it was very interesting and informative to see in one location today where such a commitment to a hobby.. http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=272476 that I know I will never comprehend the needed electronics understanding of.. "black magic" to me
After walking around the grounds screening the various vendors wares with required people viewing, and me spending a total of $4.00 for a heavy duty package of zip ties (for my Jeep), and Brian spending more, we then headed for Williams town center to drag old Route 66 and look for a place to have lunch.
Thanks for the invite Brian. It was a fun and interesting day and now I can say I have been to
Williams, Arizona
PS- HAZ Development Team: We need a new triplog "Mode" listing for Amateur Radio.. please |
