| no partners | | This was just an exercise loop but I noted several things. One was the fire on Sitgreaves Mountain. It has been dampened down a lot by the recent rainfall. Another was just getting acquainted with the area. I didn't realize that by riding north on Airport Road I'd reach Pronghorn Ranch Road, and be able to make a loop.
When I reached Highway 64 it was very busy as always. I really am not too keen on highway riding. A long distance cyclist passed me by. We chatted a bit. He had ridden down here from Calgary. He was riding a Specialized Expedition, which seemed to be a sort of cross-over mountain bike. I was impressed by this since for me the low slung handlebars of a road bike are painful. (I have a road bike but rarely ride it. Hurts my neck and my wrists.) This bike is very inexpensive as well--only about $500. Maybe I'll buy one! Since my bike has rear suspension it is difficult to set it up for overnight or long distance touring, which is something I've been wanting to do--mostly dirt road touring is of interest to me. Of course this guy had street tires on his, not knobbies.
Here is the bike: http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/ ... tion-sport |

Wildflowers Observation Light Flowers are starting to come up with all this rain. I'll do a flower ride one of these days, stop and take photos of them. |
