Ajo, but due to the fact that this TH comes first on a 20-mile one-way dirt road, I opted to do it first. This whole range reminded me of a Rhyolite version of Sedona, with all of its steep canyons, high peaks and towers.
The guide lists the hike up to the Boulder Canyon overlook as 1.1 miles each way. There's also an overlook in between the saddle and the arches that give you nice views towards the western valley floor and other mountain ranges in the area. On your way back down you can also continue NW on a well marked trail to the arches which is also very sweet. Enjoy. |
