It's a whole different experience hiking through them however. I went on this hike with a friend and his little dog Ollie. We took our time on the trail taking in all the beautiful vistas that surrounded us. Sedona being high country is a little different than the trails in the valley because of all the pine trees and the foresty feel of the trails. There was some running water but not much, we did find a trickling brook. The shadow of the mountain was on us most of the way up so it was cool. The day didn't get much above the mid 60's either. There were beautiful orange and red natural monoliths along the way and a naturally formed amphitheater. We took a wrong turn that put us under the bridge but that was great too. On top of the bridge it was magnificent. The forest valley spread out below us like something out of a Tolkein book, and the amazing shape of the bridge was quite breath taking. We had lunch on the bridge and that was by far the best seats I've ever had for eating. |
