| no partners | | Wanted to explore some of the local old west history and Gillett, AZ was pretty close. This also gave me the opportunity to explore more of the Agua Fria which is always welcomed. The canyon at the "trail head" is pretty awesome and has had water each time I have been down there. The first leg of the trail is well shaded in the canyon and then the second is pretty wide open and sunny. The ruins amount to a few walls left standing and a collecting of artifacts laid out. I read about grave sites but could not locate any sign. It looks like most of the area is owned by a small claim. You might get wet on this trip depending on water level. The highlight was the Bald eagles we ran into. We saw them fly passed and then interrupted their meal on the way out. Further south the area is closed due to breeding area. |
