| partners | | We started early because we knew it would be hot. Luckily there were some pretty dark and ominous clouds coming from the west that clouded out the sun but never materialized rain for us.
This is a pretty straight forward hike. Mostly flat and open while you trek along the edge of the creek and pass through a few gates. We made it to the grave site which is right before any real elevation gains occur. You could tell it is the path least traveled by the overgrowth on the trail. I would suggest long pants on this one. There were very few signs of the 2004 Willow fire in this area. We saw a couple deer off in the distance and one set of cat prints but not much else going on.
The grave site was pretty interesting and gave me the chance to read-up on David Gowan and his exploits. Makes me wish my ancestors would have had the foresight to hold on to land somewhere. |
