| no partners | | Set out this a.m. for a hike on the rim with hopes of beating the impending weather, I failed to do so. It was 36 degrees when I started the hike and 44 degrees when I arrived back at the vehicle. I was hit with rain, freezing rain, snow and even a couple brief moments of sunshine. The wind was the real killer but once I was down in the canyon it wasn't as bad. One thing the weather did provide was complete solitude. Finding the way down and back out of the canyon is fun. Just find an elk trail and follow it as best you can. Doing so on cold, wet terrain is even more fun. There is plenty of water in the canyon right now. The "trail" itself is pretty easy to follow as you're just walking along the creek. |
