| no partners | | It's always fun to check out a trail you've never been on before, especially if it gets you well above the valley heat in August!
With this idea in mind, we drove over to the Cold Creek end of the Bonanza Trail, with a plan of hiking up to Bonanza Peak. The trailhead was easy to find, and we quickly prepared our packs and headed up the trail. This part of the trail consists mainly of switchbacks - 76 up to the point we left the trail, to be exact. But, the switchbacks are not steep, and almost the entire trail was shaded by trees. Near perfect conditions!
Broke off from the trail and headed along the ridgeline to Bonanza Peak. This is not a huge peak, but views were excellent in all directions and well worth the effort. Looks like a few people sign this peak register each day on weekends. Saw not a single other person on our Tuesday hike. |
