| no partners | | Part 1-- short backpack into Anasazi world after a very long dirt road drive and into a wonderful valley with seldom visited ruins and a lot of remains of pot shards etc. If you look around a lot more to see too. I didn't see anyone and didn't expect to this time of year.
Part 2-- Always wanted to drive over the southern Abajos so I did. Some wet roads which were challenging, and I took a side to the Beef basin area and down a little of a rough 4wd road with stellar views of the backside of the Needles area of Canyonlands. In at the Bears Ears and out via the Dugout ranch and the road that leads to the Needles over to Monticello, Ut. I've done some hikes off this road too but I recommend it because the views into the Dark Canyon area and Plateau are incredible, and you can see lots of wildlife. I saw several groups of bucks in velvet, got a few pics. |
