Afternoon hike from mud to snow with far more snow than one would normally find at 9,000' in early November, per my experience. Looked and felt more like mid-December; bleak and cold. At least 3 helicopters were moving some sort of supplies on to, or off of, somewhere on Elden, probably the Devils' Chair area, as I saw nothing on or near the summit. They were creating more than a buzz, and drowning out the birds. 28 on top in the shade with the new thermometer placed up there.
