The breeze was up and I was tired, so I skipped Philomena and hiked Elden. It looks a lot drier than expected and the grass is no where near as lush as last year at this time. Some looks very dry. I guess the heavy rain between extended dry periods hasn't been adequate this summer. White firs are dying on some of the slopes on the mountain, probably the result of several dry winters. Nice to be back, even with a breeze that feels very uncharacteristic of later August. With this hike, I crested 200,000' for the year. Finally!
