I started out from First Water TH before the sun was up and made good time along the First Water and then the Dutchman. Once I made got on Bull Pass, the real hiking started.
The hike up Bull Pass and then onto the mesa reminded me a little of Picketpost Mountain Summit. Not quite as steep and way more vegetation, but similar.
Once on top, all that work was worth it. Incredible views all around! Weavers Needle was magnificent! I went looking for the glyphs and located them on the SE side of the mesa.
On the way back, I opted for Black Mesa Trail. I sorta wished I went back the same way. But, I have never been through there and it made for an excellent workout.
When I do this one next time, I will opt for an afternoon hike so I can get some clean photos of Weavers Needle and the area south of the mesa with out Mr Sun blazing down on me.
All in all, an excellent hike! |
