| partners | | A trip up Barnhardt/Divide to visit the twin gushers.... one of my favorite seasonal destinations in the state.
It was 39 degrees the Trailhead around daybreak when we started up. Spotty snow on the trail to the flowing Hawaiian Mist falls. Between Hawaiian Mist Falls and the Big Kahuna Falls it was more hard packed/slippery snow. After this there were areas of deeper snow that make the climb just a bit more strenuous.
Turning on the Mazzy Divide trail, the trail clearing stops a bit north of the Chilson trail turnoff. The Mazzy Divide trail was mostly clear of snow, with just a few 100yd stretches to slow you down.
At the destination, The twin 300' beauties were gushing. Sandy Saddle Falls and Northfork of Deadman Falls were very appreciative of the snow melt. We explored a bit, had some lunch at the falls, and started back.
We ran into Chums, Joel and Karl on their way to a backpack. Later on, back on the Barnhardt, we ran into Lee and the pups, going to join them. The snow was softer on the way down making the stretch between Kahuna and Hawaiian Falls no problem to navigate.
