Another awesome 6 night/7 day vehicle camping and off-trail hike exploratory trip to our Sierra Ancha Wilderness along Cherry Creek Road-FR203. Excellent early Spring temps with no rain at 4000ft elevation (lows in the mid 30's and day highs in the upper 70's to low 80's) with good company, another primo campsite, and a full agenda of interesting hike explorations to do made for a very enjoyable and rewarding trip :)

This is the fourth year in a row that Larry and I have planned a Spring vehicle camping/hiking trip to the Sierra Ancha. We originally started these March trips in 2013, first camping at the upper end FR235- Billy Lawrence TH and have now progressively worked our way down from the north end of Cherry Creek Rd- FR203. Planning for these yearly and now mostly "off-trail" hike exploration trips begins months ahead of time and includes a significant amount of Google Earth/HAZ- Route Manager prep time mostly credited to our Oregon Hiker.. thank you Larry! and with hopes that Mother Nature will cooperate weather-wise.

We always plan these week trips with a full agenda of daily hike explorations to hopefully accomplish. This year we had another exciting and demanding trip list of new to us (some known and some questionable), lesser visited ancient Sierra Ancha Indian Ruin Sites. We had 5 to 6 ruin sites on our week agenda. Me being out of shape with little exercise over the past few months, I already knew that I would have to pick and choose carefully what I was going to attempt. As it turned-out I needed to spend 2 of our 5 available hiking days in camp being able to hike the other 3 available days. Larry hiked all 5 of our available full days with Brian (BeeBee) able to join-in with Larry for the most difficult, demanding but rewarding Sat-3/19 "Ken Gates Compound (V-1-200)".

This vehicle/tent campsite is a nice place to spend a few days.
