I started the hike at 92 degrees. I saw a large coachwhip around 8am in the middle of the trail wait for someone to take its photo, but I tripped walking toward it, and it took off, so I wasn't able to get a decent shot. I had to cut my hike short because I was supposed to workout with my friend at the gym, but she canceled due to some neck pain.

I saw that it rained where I was at, so I returned to the desert to scout out for more animals. I only walked a mile or so, but found a few spadefoots in the wash. Then I came across a juvie long-nosed snake, my 199th snake of the year! :y:

When I caught the snake, I immediately saw a pincushion cactus in bloom. I didn't want to waste any space on HAZ, so I decided to photograph them together.

Awesome outing! I knew mailing that chain letter in 1995 would pay off eventually.
