maybe the dog days of august, but after hiking wrightson and climbing at the pit the last two sundays, nothing local appealed to me
so, went out the gate into papago park and right off discovered the new 5k loop the city has constructed
followed that for awhile, then took off over by hole-in-the-rock, around hunt's tomb, across the srp road and into the park sections on either side of curry
lots of homeless camp trash near the freeway
returned via the crosscut shared use path
this paved trail goes right through the frisbee golf course and along a little stream of water that flows from the crosscut eventually into the grand canal
back along the crosscut canal, the nature trail and then hooked up where i left off on the 5k loop
will post a short description and a track for that when i have time
the loop passes just east of my condo and is a nice addition to the neighborhood
crushed rock and dirt six feet wide with a few paved parts where the trail crosses a wash
good for a short trail run
not a very exciting hike, but hit double digits and enjoyed the morning |
