Then there are the dogs, along several of our routes there are dogs that charge and/or bark viciously. To help handle this I've learned a Quechua word, "mana" which means stop. Then there are many routes/trails/roads that lead all over the place and then just dead-end. I have spent a lot of time hiking and looking at Google Earth.
Pillku Urqu, also known as Pikul, Pikol, and many other names,is a peak that reaches 14,593 ft in the Andes of Peru, near the city of Cusco. I happen to be staying at the base of Pikol. Many mornings before work several of us have explored the foothills of Pikol scheming the best route up for when we finally have part of a day off. Today, we feel like we finally found the best route up to the peak. |
