You hike along Cave Creek and do have to cross the creek two times in each direction. The water was quite high, due to the recent rains, but the creek was passable without much trouble. We tried to go to the Skunk Tank intersection, but at about the 4 mile mark we found the creek difficult to cross so we turned around and went back.
There were several muddy areas we had to cross.
There's an amazing crested saguaro cactus at N33° 58.002' W111° 53.981'. That site alone is worth the trip. I posted a picture of the saguaro.
The desert is very green and the wildflowers, when in bloom should be incredible. |
