| no partners | | My husband and our good friend, Joe, started the day thinking we would circle buzzards roost (just as was done on the official route). We hiked up to the ridgeline between the parking area and the Roost and were delighted with the views, especially from the west saddle. It was great to see 5057, Weaver's Needle, and Miners Needle from a different vantage point. We probably should have started out earlier, though, and our concern about how long it would take us to go back down the loose rock after leaving the ridgeline caused us to abandon circling the roost. In fact, we decided to boulder-hop down the ravine to the south. Eventually we had to move out of the ravine (catclaw!) and up, to our right, on to the hillside. We then followed game trails that lead to a stream which we followed back to the road. I suspect we'll try it again another day... |
