Got a late start and arrived at the trailhead at around 1500. Was in a bit of a rush and not paying much attention to the directions and went the wrong way on the PCT for about a half mile until I realized my mistake. Lots of PCT hikers headed through the area this time of year, I enjoyed chatting with the ones that I encountered. Probably left some of them scratching their heads as to why some random guy was walking around in the forest in a wet suit...

Dropped in at the upper switchback a couple miles in and did 7 rappels. Water level is extremely low, only encountered 1 waist deep pool- shorty wetsuit was definitely not needed. Had a couple PCT hikers gathered at the top of drop #3 where the creek crosses the trail. Drop went great, but my pull cord got stuck, so I felt a bit embarrassed when I climbed back up the slope and retrieved it. Lesson learned though, I totally should have set up the anchor differently, at least now I know for next time.

The stretch from r3 to r4 is a long slog along the creek with lots of downed trees. While working my way along the east side of the creek I disturbed a bees nest and got stung on my legs, arms, and neck :o . I ran back into the creek and was fortunate that they didn't continue to pursue me. Probably also lucky that it was getting late and they were less active than they would have been if I stumbled through at noon...

Everything else after the bees went pretty smoothly. The last 4 drops are super scenic and would be spectacular with higher flows. The bushwhack back up the hillside to the trail was super steep, but not the worst.

Did my good deed of the day and picked up a stray backpacker named Jason on the drive back. He was doing a short hike along the PCT from Stabler to Cascade Locks and decided to abort, so he was walking along the forest road to get back to cell service to call for a ride. It was past dark and he still had several miles to go, so I picked him up and drove him back to Cascade Locks.
