Plan on some more exploring next week as well when I pick her up. This property was homesteaded in 1871 and finished in 1904 by civil war General William Palmer who also owned Denver Rio Grande railroad and was the founder of Colorado Springs. Anyway it’s 723 acres nestled in a couple of canyons by Garden of the Gods sharing the same geology. You can explore this place if you stay here or apparently if your kid goes to camp as security is tight and it is private property. Either way the price is steep. Probably the cheaper way would be to sign up for a $9 dollar tour of the castle which will get you entrance or sign up for high Tea. Apparently these things book up well in advance so plan accordingly. The trails are nice and the views are pretty spectacular. |
