| no partners | | I wanted to try the White Pine Lake trail to see if it was as enjoyable as the Red Pine Lake trail I did a month prior. The mileage sign at the beginning says 4 miles. Wrong! It's 5.5 miles, for a total of 11 miles. It was rated difficult and I agree. I anticipated the steady incline, but the last 1.5 miles were very rocky with barren landscape. I had to stop several times to catch my breath. Unlike the Red Pine Lake trail of being rewarded with a spectacular view of a gorgeous lake at the end, White Pine was desolate. It looked as if a damn was made and the water level used to be higher. It left a black ring all around the rim leaving only rocks and dirt with no beautiful greenery. It wasn't worth the difficult climb. |
