We started out at the Sabino Canyon parking lot, maybe a couple of hours before sunset. The weather was perfect! We opted for this hike as time was short and we needed to be back for dinner. Needless to say, dinner was late, but this hike was totally worth it!

Using Route Scout we found the trail fairly easily despite the 'maze' of small trails that lead to sabino canyon, sabino canyon dam, seven falls, etc. We thought this would be a routine and relatively unexciting hike - little did we know about the beauty that lay Ahead!

Once we got on the right trail, things began to get steep and never really relented. The sun was going down and we found ourselves smack in the middle of the golden hour! What Views! It was hard to focus in front of us on the trail because the sunset was Gorgeous! The higher we climbed the more spectacular the scenery became. Arizona was once again astounding me with her rugged beauty.

Driven on by the need for more, we only took one little break on the way up. We enjoyed beautiful views of the Catalinas, Tucson, and Rincon mountain ranges. As it got dark, the lights of Tucson to heralded us with their twinkling spell. Sabino canyon could be seen below us on our right hand side. When we got to the end of the trail we could see the lights of people bicycling far below, making their way back down the canyon. The slowly pulsing red lamps atop Mt. Bigelow could be seen to the north.

We stopped at the end of Blacketts Ridge Trail and soaked in the view while having a snack and enjoying the cool evening air.

What a spectacular hike! Fantastic!
