| no partners | | With my permit in hand I took a second trip to Charle Bell Well at Cabeza Prieta. The area is an archeological district with petroglyphs, artifacts, trails, shrines, a village, and several living areas. On my first trip I just wanted to see the main site with petroglyphs. On this trip, I camped out over night to have more time looking around.
I wanted to find the hohokam village, which is about .5 miles from the well. We found the site. The village had a trail thru the middle of the site with petroglyphs along the trail and scattered thru the site. Near the village I found a chert point. Yahoo! Found a few plain sherds near the village but did not find any in the village area. As for the shell pendant, my hiking partner found it. This was not found near the village. He found it closer to the well in our camp.
Planning another trip to follow the trail to the south and or to the west to see some of the other sites I know about. Most likely do that next February. |
