A project to make two enhancements to Pigeon Spring is in the works:

Pigeon Spring has 3 spring boxes, 2 have water and one is dry. The Forest Service plan:
1) Refurbish the main spring box which has a concrete cover that is partially collapsed.
2) Remove the dry, cracked, non-functioning spring box.

Today a group of us did #2 and broke up the dry spring box with a “breaker hammer” and hauled the concrete away using the crawler in 7 round trips down and up the trail to the road and then off to the transfer station using pickup trucks.

The group also made a strong start on #1: clearing out the main box and uncovering the partially collapsed lid.
