Decided to head for cooler temps (not 113F) 72 when I started and 80 when I got back.

Cleared 7 deadfall but left 2 that were a bit beyond a pruning saw  Startled 4 gangs of elk but couldn’t get any good pictures through all the trees as they scattered.

Only saw one person all day and he hadn’t seen anyone for 2 days! Met Connor who was doing his first backpack: 3 days for section #28. He was planning for a friend in Flagstaff to pick him up at Gooseberry Springs and take him back to his car at Hay Meadow. Since he was an hour early and his friend hadn’t left Flag yet I offered to take him back and he gladly accepted.

Good day in the cool pines :)
