As soon as I arrived I noticed one of the eagles on a pole along Hayden Road so I made my way around the lake. first I passed the goslings that I knew were there thanks to Mark Koster. Then as I rounded the lake I came across a Night Crowned Black Heron (The first time that I have seen one at Chapparal) and a Great White Egret. I snapped a few pictures then hurried on. I was able to get several photos of the eagle looking very regal on top of the pole before it flew off. I went back the way I came and found the Night Heron still there. Got several pictures of this interesting looking bird. Then I went and got some photos of the cute goslings. I ran into Mark Koster who told me the eagle I saw was the female. Her and her mate Bandit are caring for 2 eaglets right now. I went and stopped by the owl habitat at SCC, no activity there. So I drove down Dobson Road then over to Vista Del Camino Park and snagged a few photos. |
