| no partners | | The Moanalua Valley trail splits three ways about 3 miles from the trailhead. I wanted to take the last branch I hadn't yet hiked. The Kulana'ahane trail begins at the split and ends at an overlook along the Ko'olau Range ridgeline.
The trail follows and crosses a couple streams 20 plus times. Not a good place to hike during heavy rainfall. Rainfall today was fairly light. It rains every day here it seems. Once the trail leaves the stream bed it is a short steep climb up to the overlook of the windward side of Oahu.
Saw at least three people being airlifted off the Moanalua Ridge Trail as I was hiking. Too steep and slick for them, I guess. Only saw one hiker and her friendly and enthusiastic dog on the Kulana'ahane trail.
Found some guavas, but not nearly as many as other trails in the area.
Good day. |
