This hike was to the summit of Crosby Mountain (elevation of 4,344 feet and prominence of 1,144 feet). Crosby Mountain is in Yavapai County, several miles SE of the mining town of Bagdad.

Crosby Mountain is about 1 mile west of the Crosby Mine, which is where the peak got its name. The Crosby Mine was operational from 1901-1948, with gold being its primary product.

I parked just off on Highway 97 on a private road, and the owner graciously allows access; however, signage at the beginning of the road says that access can be closed at any time. Hopefully, people using the road will be on their best behavior.

I could have easily driven a mile or more on the road, but I came out there to get some exercise not to drive on a dirt road. I walked on roads for about 4 miles to a saddle, and then went off-trail on a ridgeline to the summit. It was easy off-trail: it was fairly open and not too rocky, not too steep, and not too brushy. The summit was in view the whole way, with no trees or bushes obscuring your vision.

Views were nice at the summit, so I hung out there for a bit. I saw the benchmark, one reference mark, and some height-of-light remnants. The other reference mark was only supposed to be 4 feet from the benchmark, but I did not locate it.

This wasn't the greatest hike in the world, but I enjoyed being outside on a nice day in an area that I had not been to before.

There were a few trees with some yellow leaves, which added a touch of color to the hike.
