| no partners | | Back to the Petrified Forest while the weather is "just right". Unfortunately the wind was fierce!
My plan was to go back to an area loaded with pottery pieces and look beyond...maybe the pottery leads to petroglyphs or a habitation site higher up. My plan didn't work out though because the hillside above was too difficult to climb up (big tumbled rocks and ball bearings on steep hardened mud), but I did find some petroglyphs there.
Since I couldn't go up, I went sideways and walked a couple miles of bottom edge I was curious about. I expected to find petroglyphs along the way but the rock had little patination and I didn't see a one. But I did find a few interesting artifacts shown in the pictures.
Spent the night In Holbrook and came back the next day. |
