| no partners | | Starting off the new year with new places. Barely parted the veil on this one and it is amazing, beautiful and with many secrets. Best road access information is thru the BLM website. You drive into the yard of the Diamond Bar ranch, which sort of looks deserted but isn't. Please respect the property and the gates. You will need 4wd in places beyond the ranch, due to steepness of the roads. I car camped in there Fri nite and hiked a little that evening. Sat spent all day doing a canyon partial loop, rough hiking in the canyon bottoms, plenty of bushwaking, rock hopping, and some boulder choke route finding. Overland, grasslands and pinyons, and lots and lots of prickly pear. There are no trails here. Saw some horses and a mule both on the drive in and out, and was able to pet all of them, think I'll bring some carrots next time. |
