| no partners | | Started first with some browsing and shopping in the Akihabara district. This area has a high concentration of electronic-oriented and anime-themed stores. The highlight was Super Potato, an iconic retro gaming store with multiple levels. Everyone found fun items to purchase at various shops and then we split into three separate groups for lunch. I'm not a big fan of eating raw fish and have settled on the scrumptious noodle options available almost everywhere.
Our second leg was strolling the Imperial Palace grounds. The iris garden was the highlight of our walk. The area is secured with no public access to the palace, so it's mostly just a greenbelt somewhat similar to New York's Central Park, sans all the people exercising, biking, running, etc.
Our final stop was Harajuku. This is another popular shopping area that was very busy and crowded, probably because it was a pleasant Saturday afternoon. We spent some time browsing, snacking and people watching, then wandered south to the famed Shibuya Crossing. There was an insane amount of people congregated here, but it was still fascinating and I was glad to experience it, once! 
We finished the day with dinner near the rental house at 7-11, yes, apparently that's a thing in Japan. We also enjoyed three bottles of various sakes.  |
