| no partners | | spent the night at onion valley campground listening to the waterfalls
sort of a leisurely start to the day with an unhurried climb up to kearsarge pass. beautiful climb to the pass with a bunch of waterfalls and creeks. there were 2 slightly sketchy snowfields to traverse but they turned out fine. couple of lakes along the way too. the last one, Big Pothole Lake, was still mostly frozen over and rimmed by the most stunning turquoise colored water!
chilled at the pass then continued down the other side and went out to Kearsarge Lakes, which was an absolutely delightful trail and the lakes were stunning. channeled my inner JohnLP and dove into the lake for a chilly swim. then spent a nice while relaxing and drying out before beginning the climb back to the pass and back to the TH. filtered some water from a waterfall on the way back. that was a first
fabulous getaway to the Eastern Sierra |
