Lat:36.0118N lon:114.7935W The trail follows an old railroad bed that was built in the 1930's to haul materials and equipment for the construction of Hoover Dam. The trail passes through 5 very big tunnels. There are great views of Lake Mead along the trail and if it gets hot (as it did on April 21) the tunnels offer shade.
My wife and I stopped at the Hacienda Casino for breakfast and then took this nice easy walk.
From Arizona, take Hwy 93 past Hoover Dam about 4 miles and turn right at Lakeshore Drive. Just past the Lake Mead visitor center is the parking lot. |
