| no partners | | Started at the trailhead at the end of Constellation Road. As usual, the resident dog took a break from guarding her goats to come over and greet me. Not the same dog I saw last time in 2016, but happy to get a greeting nonetheless. Headed downstream and took it slow to appreciate the fall colors. Light albeit consistent flow the entire time. I'm sure the 5" of rain the Bradshaws saw in Nov helped with that. Also surprised at the amount of fall foliage given the recent rains. Camped where Jesus Canyon meets the river. Lazy start on Sunday, hiked up to a peak on the way out to photograph an unexpectedly brilliant sunset over a ribbon of autumn color.
I had my doubts that the conditions would line up for this hike to truly deliver, but I was pleasantly surprised. |
