| no partners | | It's been too long since I've been out in the Superstitions so I decided that today was the day to get out and check em out again. I parked along the Apache Trail close to the First Water Road as my Trailhead and within a few minutes, I was on my way. I'm also testing/breaking in a new pair of Skechers "Slip-ons" that we purchased over the weekend. (so far, they're working pretty good and they're comfortable too).
I'm following an unmarked trail that connects with the Crosscut Trail right close to the LDSP after about 3/4 mile. From here it's just a matter of which way to go, how far and how much altitude. My knees and an ankle that twists when it shouldn't, are the determining factor as to how aggressive I can hike, so I'm keeping it around 2-miles RT.
The temp was in the low 50's and the sun was shining through a cloudless sky at the start, around 6:00 AM. Saw lots of rabbits, few hikers and the birds are noisy, but no bugs or sticky weeds, so that makes for a good day to get back in the Superstitions. Maybe I can stick to this once-a-week schedule till I see how the bones are making out. Pat, my wife, is pretty nervous about the whole hiking thing.
The Wildflowers are all dried up, the Palo Verde are shedding and the Saguaro are just starting to bloom. We got a small amount of rain the previous evening, but hardly enough to satisfy the demands. |

| On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip. |
