After checking out Mingus to find the oaks has all turned brown, then hiking Grapevine Springs and feeling dissatisfied with the yellow Alders (although they had all turned, just not an entirely impressive scene), I headed to an old favorite, West Fork. I'm glad I did, too, because the cold front 2 weeks ago caused the canyon to be much more colorful then I would have expected in mid October. I hiked probably a mile past the Subway. My first time hiking past the end of the trail, and it was incredible.
