My brother, cousin and niece re-traced Kat and my trek from a few weeks ago by driving down Schnebly Hill starting around 9 AM. We saw a deer on the way, took the obligatory Vista photo and then started down. This time, however, we stopped at the two pullouts including the Munds Wagon Trailhead. We climbed to the top of the rock formations for some even greater vistas.

Thanks Jake for the information you and Jim provided me about this area as I was able to share that with them. My cousin and niece were duly impressed. My brother has done the drive a few times as well but we both really enjoyed taking the time to park at the pullouts and hike up to the top of the rock formations. We were lucky once again as the traffic was somewhat limited and all of it was going up.

After a stop at Ace Hardware to find something to use as a camera strap for my niece's camera and a 20 minute bouncy ride on the dirt road we arrived at the Devil's Bridge trailhead around 11:45. Tonto seemed a better ride on this road than Silver but it might have been because I had a steering wheel to hold onto. :) The hike up seemed to go quickly as we arrived at the Arch at 12:15. When we hit the shade though, the temp was very cool as compared to when Kat and I had gone up.

And unfortunately for us, the bridge was covered in shade too so taking pictures was difficult due to the lack of wonderful sun light. After I took several photos of the group and a movie, my cousin leaped across the NW side of the bridge (long legs) without a problem while the rest of us were content to enjoy the "arch" experience. My niece and I fiddled around on the Arch taking pictures of each other and then we finally headed back down the trail.

This time we went to below the arch as well. It only took us 10 minutes to get under the Bridge. I'm actually surprised that Kat and I didn't do that part of the trail by accident :D . The light still wasn't conducive to taking great pictures but we tried different angles of the arch and ourselves and took the photos anyway. With still having to get over to Courthouse Butte/Red Rock Trail (I wanted to get there by 2), we made our way back to the bottom where we took our group photo by the nice trailhead sign at 1:15. There were maybe 8-10 other people on the trail.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
