Got a late start and did an afternoon hike today. I noticed that most of the wildflowers are starting to dry up but there are still a few between the top of the pyramid and the national Trail.
Time flys, nearly four months since last. Excitingly warm but dragged getting up prospector hiking like I learned to hike by what others deem necessary.
got going around 0800 from pyramid
bursera, west end of gila, national, pyramid/gila
quite a few people out
windy up high with some cloud cover
good hike, needed one like that
Getting ready for the National Trail Trek in a couple weeks. Hiked Pyramid to National Trail. Took National trail East to Buena Vista. Took a short break on the bench, then back on National Trail the way I came. When I got back to the Pyramid trail junction I stayed on National all the way to Lost Ranch, and then back to the trailhead.
It was quite hot for early February. At least 80F by the time I finished. Ok up on the ridges where there was a breeze. But hot in the valleys.
I got to the trailhead at about 7:45 and there were just a few open parking spots.
Workout loop. Up Lost Ranch Mine, east on National, down Pyramid/Gila. Saw JJ in the big wash on Gila. Hot. Some breeze. Dirty air. Chatted with a hiker in the parking lot who had seen me near the Prospector/National junction. He and his friend were doing a double loop of the Lost/Pyramid trails. He looked remarkably like a friend of mine in Vegas, but it definitely wasn’t him.
met up with john at 0700
pyramid, national, goat hill, ruins
good hike, thanks john
