got out before 0600 this morning
grand canal to 19th ave, 15th ave to bethany home, east to bridle path
would have been better off staying on 15th ave, as the bridle path was busy and slow going
back on the arizona canal to 56th, osborne to old crosscut
just over 31, which is a solid ride for me
nice out, wanted to do this combo but hard going into the wind on the return on a longer ride :sweat:

Well I have found my central Phoenix replacement for a flat, shady path for doing speedwork. Have been running consistently for a little over a month and see what kind of speed is left in my old legs. Warmed up for a mile, starting from the parking lot of the big Baptist church and headed north. Ran a few intervals and turned around at Northern. Despite being in the 90's, in the shade it wasn't too bad.

Plus it is really nice to be able to see some of the big old mansions on Central Avenue up close. Some real beauties out there.

After work jog. Parked at the church on Bethany Homes. Jogged to the canal and back. The was a sign at the beginning of the "trail head" that was celebrating the fact that Murphy Bridle Path had been around since 1895! Not sure how long the sign has been there...I don't recall seeing it last year. The sign actually looks kind of improvised so I am not sure how accurate the information is. Only saw a handful of people on the path. Overcast again, but once again very hot and humid.

Finally checked this out after years of slight curiosity. Doubt most would go out of their way but I enjoyed it. A few of the homes are nice to admire. Fabulous trees in this irrigated neighborhood. Might do some loops around the neighborhood to 3rd. Jessica did great. I got a bit tired and loopy towards the end.

Maybe a dozen out walking, running or biking. Expected more as it's typically busy driving by, maybe it's more of a morning thing.

needed a cross training day after two trail runs
grand canal to central
north on central and the bridle path to az canal
southeast to crosscut and through papago
the grand canal is always entertaining
saw a turtle on a shopping cart, then a few miles later saw another one :)
at least 25 shopping carts in the short stretch between mcdowell and oak :-k
don't really care for the bridle path surface, but it's shady and in a nice area
kind of a beat down once i turned south into the wind, so much so that i was too tired to make it an even 30 miles :(
might have been a little dehydrated, although temps were fine and skies slightly overcast
have never been west of central on the grand canal - next time
aside from the street crossings, it's a fun and interesting ride

I was involved in a car wash down the street from here so after it was over I had my wife drop me off at the canal on Central and I jogged the 2.5 miles to where it ended at Bethany Homes. I continued on up to about Camelback where we were shopping. Wasn't too bad except for the stop lights. And it seemed I caught every one of them.... just like when I am driving. :( No sure why this makes one of the 60 hikes in Phoenix, but I imagine there is quite a bit of history to it.

I've driven past this trail thousands of times and have never been on it. Was trying to find a place to do an easy run that was close to my place and decided to check out Murphy's Bridal Path. Other than dodging a few other early morning runners and dog walkers, a rather uneventful run. North Central Avenue is one of my favorite streets to drive down, so it was interesting to see it up close.

I had a meeting at one of the churches on Central Ave so I got there early to walk the Murphy Bridle Path. This is all I can handle with a fractured radius.
