Miss Ellie and I started our hike at a parking lot right off the rim. We hiked the Meadow trail to Woods Canyon lake and to the spillway campground. We then stopped back at the truck to get a bite to eat. I then decided to take the Rim Lakes Vista Trail to the East. We stumbled onto the Military Sinkhole trail. We took the trail about 3/4 of a mile down. I really liked this portion of today's hike. I found a place to stop and relax for a few minutes. Miss Ellie did not relax, she chanced anything that moved. We then hiked back up to the rim trail, and took it to the next parking lot. We then hiked back to the truck. |

| no partners | | I started out on the Rim top TH and headed west on the Gen. Crook to the Carr lake trail. I took Carr lake trail to the Boulder Hop, which intersected the Carr lake trail again.
Now I've finished all the named trails from the Rim Top/Carr lake THs.
Then I just explored off-shoots and un-named trails around Woods Canyon lake. The forest service decommissions a road and makes an un-named trail of it. I did two loops on abandoned FS roads between Gen Crook and Woods canyon lake. I finished the day out by going to the 235 bike trail.
My leg/knee is holding up as long as I don't do any real elevation.
The temps were cool-ish to almost warm. I've noticed that the Rim Top TH has an issue with mosquitoes. They are pretty bad at dusk. |
