| partners | | Early morning start for a long day. Last week we had backpacked to 1st Water via the JF, Hoolie Bacon, Red Tanks and Dutchman, this week we wanted to just do a day trip from the same upper TH. Picked up Larry and his sidekick Rowdy at 1st Water TH and headed over to Tortilla TH off of Apache Trail. Thanks to Rick ( RZR ) and Dennis for dropping us off at the Tortilla Well, starting our journey from the start of Peters Trail 105, saving us over 3 miles to get to the upper TH from the Apache Trail. Peters Trail 105 is really a nice trail ( all cleaned up except maybe 1 mile toward the end , then rest of Peters was clean ) The 1st half was so so, but the last half was killer views all around. Once we reached the last ridge the whole West Supers opened up for us Rowdy was our trusted Scout for the trip, and probably was a good thing, seems like Larry would tend to stray off course and good old Rowdy would set him straight and get him back on track again . I rewarded Rowdy with part of my chicken sandwich when we stopped at Charlebois for lunch. After our break we headed over to Peralta Maps and then for an uneventful trek back to 1st Water TH via the Dutchman Trail. Loaded up with Larry's vehicle and headed to Rick's Saloon for a beer and related war stories of our latest adventure. Nice to have met and hiked with ya Widowmaker Hope the blisters don't hold you back for long |
