| partners | | john and janie invited me on a camping trip near blue ridge reservoir
we had lunch at thai station on the way
found a nice spot at rock crossing campground
after setting up camp and relaxing all afternoon, john thought it would be fun to start a hike at 1830
we walked from the campground to rock crossing trailhead
this took longer than we thought but decided to see how far we could get
short descent down 18A
the first crossing was dry
uphill on 18B to a pumping station, then a short stretch on a forest service road and a drop into a canyon
part of this trail was hard to find and there were a few downed trees adding to the fun
we arrived at the dry lakebed and decided if we tried to hike 18C we would be returning in full dark
as it was, we needed headlamps once back at the pumping station
easy enough following the trail, but the road walk uphill got a little long
good star viewing
nice to have a bit of adventure
saw one elk and no one else |
