| no partners | | I arrived at the wrong trailhead. Not knowing that until I got to the sign that said 4 miles to Tower Bridge. I took a few pictures here at Fairyland Point and then headed to the correct trailhead which was from Sunrise Point. And when I got to the sign, it said 1.5 miles, much better. The temperature said it was in the 50s, but it felt a little warmer to me.
Once you get to the signage you head down right away. Of course, the views are non-stop and I constantly found myself in awe again. There was another hiker behind me but he seemed to be taking his time. I found out he was from San Diego and had hiked Zion and now here before going back home. There was a little bit of shade here at the top but mostly it was all in the sun. I was constantly dreading that I would have to come back up this. But it's not any worse than doing Shaw Butte. And the trail was in very good shape.
There seemed to be a lot of Evening Pimrose from time to time, not something you expect to see I guess. At almost every turn, there was something new to see including the Chinese Wall and some other rock sculptures. You do come to an area as you get lower where you do a bit of skirting around some of the tall rock formations, which was kind of fun .
And there were the usual windows and arches and some very interesting trees. It does look like they're trying to help the plant habitat by placing signs for people to be aware. I eventually made it down to the dry Campbell Creek which you actually cross a couple of times before arriving at your destination. The Tower Bridge really is quite impressive. As I was taking my pictures, I noticed that I could see a tree through one of the windows.
I would have lingered, but I had a long drive ahead of me trying to make it to Pocatello, Idaho. And so it begins, the quest to make it back out of here. I decided to start without my poles for the first bit. I continued to take pictures and film along the way, and despite my best efforts, I take way more than I want .
The views are just a little bit different on the way up. And you notice things that you missed the first time coming down. After the curvy section below the White Rock outcropping, I got out my poles to finish off the hike. I did stop occasionally to take pictures or to catch my breath, but not very often. The grade is steep in places but not bad in others, so surprisingly I actually make good time.
I'd say there were maybe a dozen hikers on this route. So it's definitely one that keeps you away from the people. However, I did start a little bit early so maybe the amount of people will change as the day unfolds.
I stopped by the visitor center and picked up some coffee and a cookie for breakfast as the breakfast at Ebenezer's was sorely lacking (part of the hotel package). And now to start my 6 hour drive to Pocatello. I did stop at the Sinclair gas station outside of Panguitch to wash off my windows so that I could take some pictures. There was the greeting cat that was walking around and entertaining some of the folks.

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
