| no partners | | I got to the TH just after 5:00 AM, and it was a nice morning for the hike. It was almost, but not quite, cool enough for a windbreaker at the TH.
On the drive back I could see quite a bit of burned acreage around the Ballantine TH. As I was heading south on the way back I could see a large plume of black smoke. It was coming from an RV that was on fire, about a mile south of the Ballantine TH in the northbound lane. It seems something catches fire on the Beeline Hwy just about every day. |

Wildflowers Observation Light As one would expect, flowers were better higher up past the FR 27 junction. There was a wide variety of flowers, with sandwash groundsel, deer brush, and New Mexico locust leading the way. |
